17 H. T. JORDAN. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. NOV. 24, 1913. CAMILLE'S DOGS. 10 min. F.S. An unusually well dressed and well perfected act of its type. Camille makes a pleasing appearance and her little charges are splendidly trained, accomplishing a number of sensational feats. Good applause all the way through and a hand at the finish. DANIELS & CONRAD. 13 min. in one. These boys have an assortment of instrumental pyrotechnics that pleased the audience highly. They went from the classics into ragtime and made a hit with both. They finished strongly. JOHN & WINNIE HENNINGS. 14 min. F.S. They started out poorly and half of their act was only mildly amusing, but the man's automobile performance on the piano and his dance won the audience and they were very kind to the act before it left the stage. The finish is good. MINNIE ALLEN. 15 min. A pronounced hit on cleverness and hard work. Some of the paraphernalia in Miss Allen's magic number did not work, which cooled the audience off a little, but she won them back with her "Kiss of Nations: song with its novelty costume changes. Miss Allen has not a great deal to work with naturally, but makes capital out of everything that she possesses. The audience was distinctly pleased by the time she left the stage. ED. REYNARD. 14 min. F.S. There is nothing like this in vaudeville and it is a winner from the time the curtain goes up. Reynard has added a number of new features to his production which greatly increases the merriment. His pastoral play with its amusing little dummies is a quaint entertainment which the house enjoys all the time. AZARD BROS. 10 min. A swift and classy hand and foot balancing act with very little breathing space between the numbers. The finish is absolutely sensational and developed a riot with the audience. "BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP." 26 min. F.S. A vaudeville triumph for everybody concerned. This is an intensely amusing comedy with a novel atmosphere. It tells an interesting story and finishes in a momentarily serious key with a pleasing sentimental touch. The environment of the beauty parlor is perfectly produced and the fun that springs from it hilarious. Joan Adair shows acting ability of a quality that would be admitted superior on the legitimate stage. She has her part in hand at all times whether she is poking fun at herself or denouncing her rival. The other roles are also well filled, particularly those of the attaches at Mme. O'Reilley's. The laughter was continuous throughout and the applause thunderous as the curtain fell. EMPIRE COMEDY FOUR. 19 min. in one. The same act as in years past. The audience laughed a good deal but did not out-do themselves in applauding. The quartette stayed out a little too long and their closing number is quite old. HASSAN BEN ALI'S ARABS. 9 min. F.S. A phenomenal acrobatic act half in pyramiding and half in whirling. Whirling about ten at once produced a tremendous impression. KINETOGRAPH. An interesting collection of events culled from the world at large by the kinetograph. GENERAL REMARKS. A show that builds right up to a climax in Brady's "Beauty is Only Skin Deep." A corking bill for Thanksgiving Week. Did not go over as well this afternoon as it should have, the audience having a serious case of "frostitis" with their hands. CUT BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP: Expression "My God."
