18 18 Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of November 24, 1913. This week we have a very good bill, indeed. Every cat more than made good, several of them scoring decided hits. MILLER & MACK An excellent dancing turn, which while it doesn't start off with any great brilliancy, introduces some work at the finish that makes the natives sit up and take notice. Could easily go down the bill a couple of peg; anywhere. 9 Min in One. DR. J. C. BOWKER Illustrated travelogue. Dr. Bowker is paying us his annual visit and is always welcomed by our patrons. This year he is giving us a most timely illustrated lecture on Mexico, which held the audience interestedly all thro and secured for him a strong round of applause at the finish. 18 Min. in One. Wm. FRIEND & Amy LESSER In a character singing and dancing act, which smacks considerably of musical comedy. Miss Lesser is a good comedienne and Mr. Friend's work is also commendable. The act did very well indeed. 18 Min. in One. C. H. O'DONNELL & CO. In a serio comic sketch, "Flashlight Cragin." I was most agreeably disappointed in this act; it tells a good story, holds up a fine moral and is sprinkled with good comedy, many of the lines being the brightest we have heard here in some time. Went very well indeed; very strong spontaneous applause at the finish. 18 Min. F. S. BALL & WEST This is probably the hit of the show. Mr. Ball's character drawing of the old soldier being one of the best things we have had in many a day. Had the audience falling out of their seats with laughter and may be said to have scored a hit that would be hard to duplicate. 20 Min. in One. KAJYYAMA Japanese handwriting expert; the act is so well-known that it need only be said that Kajiyama scored a very big hit. 18 Min. F. S. SOPHIE TUCKER I don't want to say that Miss Tucker fell down by any means, but she, by no means, scored the big hit that I have seen her credited with in other cities. A good deal of applause that she gets by trickery of showmanship and at that she didn't get nearly as much as I was told she usually does. However, the act is all right. I have nothing serious to complain of except that I think she is very largely overpaid. 17 Min, in One. WILL MACART & CO. In an Irish comedy sketch called "The Second Generation." A very difficult place for an act of this kind, but he held it in first rate shape. 21 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
