Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of December 22, 1913. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. This is a very fine show that we have this week. I can't remember when we've had a better one. Every act on the bill is of merit and they all pleased. Mme. BUSSE'S DOGS A very clever little act, clean and well presented; contains an element of comedy that adds to its value, especially the imitation of Eva Tanguay by one of the dogs, which is a better impersonation than that which Eva gives herself. 11 Min. F. S. Could do a very short close in One LEONA STEPHENS Miss Stephens has a good act; well presented, At the salary that we are paying her, it is all right, but I fail to see wherein it contains so much merit that it is to be raved about as some of my brother managers have done. I would hardly place her in a more important spot than this. In this place, however, she did very well indeed and is all right at the money. Carries a very handsome plush drop and uses the house picture sheet. 15 Min. in One. "ELOPING" A skit produced by Jesse Lasky and presented by Herrick & Hart and Company. Has an element of novelty in the comedy horse; gets a lot of laughs and all in all can be classed as a good act. 12 Min. F. S. BURNHAM & IRWIN About as good a man and woman, piano playing, singing and dancing act as we have had. The man is particularly clever, especially in a bit impersonating an intoxicating Scotchman; made a decided hit. 15 Min. in One. HANLON & CLIFTON In an especially good hand balancing act, presented in an unusual manner; scored one of the hits of the show. 8 Min. F. S. JOE COOK "The One Man Vaudeville Show." Presents a ludicrous specialty with a lot of trick comedy stuff that went over in great shape; splendid value. Could hold any spot on the bill. 15 Min. in One. IDA BROOKS HUNT & CO. In the sketch called "The Singing Countess." A good act well presented; Miss Hunt's singing receiving strong applause. 22 Min. F. S. RYAN & LEE Another man and woman act, but so different from the one earlier on the bill as to not conflict in any way. In this case, the woman doing the principal part of the comedy; held the spot down in first class shape. 17 Min. in One. GARDINER TRIO A neat appearing young man and two very attractive young women in an elaboration of the modern dances. A very refined and interesting act, which held down the closing spot without any trouble. These first three days of the week, after the matinees, they are also giving some demonstrations of the tango to those of the audience who wish to remain after the pictures, and it is pleasing to note that a very large percentage of the Monday afternoon audience remained. The regular act takes 10 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
