PITTSBURGH, PA. GRAND OPERA HOUSE. JAN. 5th, 1914. REED BROS. 12 minutes; opening in one, closing in full stage, Interior. Contortion and acrobatics on the rings. This is an exceptionally good number, but is marred somewhat by the patter of the comedian. ETHEL MAE BARKER. 12 minutes in One. Youthful Violinist. Miss Barker is pretty, plays well and dresses attractively, but she isn't worth $175. a week. She lacks personality. TELEPHONE TANGLE. Joseph Hart's Company. 17 minutes in 1 1/2. This is the act that was featured in Zeigfeld's Follies of 1913; has been elaborated and materially improved. It has none of the coarseness that characterized it in the Zeigfeld company. It is very skillfully played and moves along at a breezy tempo to the accompaniment of substantial laughter and applause. WRIGHT & DIETRICH. 20 minutes in One. Songs. Mr. Wright and Miss Dietrich are singing better than ever in spite of a hard place in the bill and were rapturously applauded and could have done two or three additional encores. ROBERT L. DAILEY & CO. 19 minutes, full stage. Mack & Orth's farce, "Our Bob." This is one of the most ludicrous farces we have played and is dominated by Mr. Dailey's big breezy personality. It is all arrant nonsense, but it is such good natured nonsense that the audience laughs without reserve. CROSS & JOSEPHINE. 19 minutes in Two. Songs, dances, chatter and travesty drama. A very good act. NINE WHITE HUSSARS. 18 minutes, full stage. It is a fine instrumental and vocal number, presenting a triple trio of men in handsome white Hussar uniforms against a background of black plush. They make enough music for a brass band, play it well and interpolate several vocal numbers that are most effectively rendered, especially their interpretation of "It's Apple Blossom Time in Normandy." BANKOFF & GIRLIE. 8 minutes, full stage. By long odds the best dancing number of the Tango style we have had this season. Bankoff is a wonder and the act would be a veritable riot in the middle of any bill. MOVING PICTURES. Two comedies, "The Milk Mystery" and "The Janitor." Good laughing films and a great relief after a succession of Pathe Weeklies.
