H. T. JORDAN. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JAN. 26, 1914. ARTHUR & GRACE TERRY. 12 min. Boy and girl doing a roping act in western costume. While they introduce nothing particularly new, their work is skilful and clever. Makes a corking good opener. MARCONI BROS. 10 min. in one. Two boys with accordions. Selections are well chosen and both boys play very well indeed, both alone and together. Made an excellent number two number and kept the show going fine. LORRAINE & DUDLEY. "The Finish." 17 min. This is a fairly good sketch but did not seem to go as well as it has in other cities. Sustained interest very well up to the finish when it seemed to take a bad drop. Finished fair. DARE BROS. 8 min. Carry their own drop which is very effective and utilize the regulation athletic costume and bearing. Their various strong-man stunts got good applause and won the crowd all right. Got a fine closing hand. RICE & COHEN. "Mary and John." 23 min. F.S. Great favorites here and always make a hit. Today was no exception to the rule from the advance applause up to the splendid finish after their most amusing playlet delightfully presented. An A1 act for any high-class bill. OLGA PETROVA. 18 min. in one. A beautiful woman and very distinctive as well as versatile in her work. Gave a parrot imitation, the cat song, same as last time, and an emotional excerpt from a Suderman play and gave as an encore a burlesque on "Oh, You Beautiful Doll." She made an excellent impression as she did previously, closing strong. "THE RED HEADS." 54 min. This is certainly one splendid sketch from start to close. The stage setting is all that could be asked for, the music is very catchy, the girls all pretty, the gowns are stunning and above all the comedy, particularly that of Carson in the Hebrew part, is splendid. The act was an unqualified hit, as it has been elsewhere and every good report we have had on it has been thoroughly justified. Think it will be more talked about than any feature of the kind that ever played this house. CHRIS RICHARDS. 10 min. in one. Coming after such a big laughing feature as "The Red Heads," it looked hard for Richards but he went after the crowd in great shape and won them immensely. His line of fun which includes acrobatic work, hat-juggling and a typical line of London Music Hall comedy got immense laughter from all parts of the house. Made a very fine close. HOWARD'S PONIES. 18 min. This ideal closer made the usual hit being very expert in the trained-animal line and showman-like in every particular. The people stayed for it and gave it splendid applause up to the laughing finish with the dogs riding horseback and jumping on and off the pedestal. There could be no more prettier and satisfactory closing feature in vaudeville. KINETOGRAPH. The usual well-selected Pathe reel. GENERAL REMARKS. A Blue Ribbon bill. Lives up to the advertising in every particular. Expect a tremendous business as "The Red Heads" certainly put over one triumph and Rice & Cohen and Olga Petrova were not far behind, with Chris Richards trailing close. CUT LORRAINE & DUDLEY: Expression "The h--- with the gun."
