H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. FEB. 2, 1914 POLLARD. 13 min. F.S. This man does a lot of the regulation juggling stunts with billiard balls, cues, etc., accompanying the same with some very amusing talk. Got a good many laughs for his comedy and his juggling got some applause. On the whole, made a very acceptable opener. Closed well. HALLEY & NOBLE. 14 min. in one. these people started off fairly well, and gathered strength as they went on, but were not such a success as to justify them a stronger spot on the bill. Miss Noble's contralto song and Mr. Halley's dancing got a closing hand. SIX AMERICAN DANCERS. 16 min. Mr. Lovenberg's new dancing act put on with the same care to detail as the previous one which has been such a great success. Stunning costumes and the usual excellent work on the part of the sextette, getting strong applause individually and collectively. Made a fine finish. BURLEY & BURLEY. 11 min. in one. This is a mighty good act and caught the house very strong. One man works straight, the other eccentric starting out with some typical english Music Hall humor which is very amusing and does not prepare the audience for the excellent acrobatic work that follows. Laughter and applause and made a very big finish. An act that would do credit on any bill. "WRONGED FROM THE START." 33 min. This is the best of Everett Shinn's burlesques on melodrama and certainly is full of original fun from the rise to the fall of the curtain. The work of Charles Withers as the "Opry House Manager" was an especially funny caricature which gives the act a double scene, the interest being divided between the meller-drammer proper and the man who handles the traps. No end of bright lines and funny situations and in fact kept the audience in laughter all the way through. Closed very strong. CROSS & JOSEPHINE. 23 min. in one. These clever people were one big hit with their splendid songs and above everything else their expert tango and other dances. Make a very fine appearance and their work is artistic and finished. They captured the audience right from the start and actually stopped the show. PRELLE'S DOGS. 11 min. This is an unusual animal novelty that got the people screaming from the minute the dogs did their racing with the manikins and kept up laughing and applauding throughout the wild-west burlesque. Carry their own drop representing a circus interior and the fake applause of the painted figures were very original and added to the general merriment. Great act for the children. Closed immense. RAYMOND & CAVERLEY. 20 min. Great favorites here and received advance applause. Carry their own street drop which is very funny, giving the audience a minute to read the advertisements. Give considerable new material but for the most part it was the comedy line of German patter that is already familiar. However, it all went big and they made a strong close after their burlesque tango. "THE TRAINED NURSES." 29 min. Same beautiful and typical Lasky act as produced here before and going just as strong as previously. Audience waited right to the finish and gave it hearty applause. KINETOGRAPH. Particularly varied series this week and very interesting. GEN. REM. Patrons leaving the show this afternoon were unanimous in saying that it was very good and their applause and comments were a satisfactory criterion. CUTS CROSS & JOSEPHINE: Remark "Home isn't the same since mother saw "The Lure." Also "I've loved you ever since Nat Goodwin had one wife." RAYMOND & CAVERLEY: Parody relating to Harry Thaw and Jerome. Remark about "getting a letter from the Board of Health in stocking on Christmas."
