BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW FEBRUARY 2, 1914. GEORGE & LILLY GARDEN. Zylophonists. 12 minutes in (2). As good as most musical acts employing only two people and one kind of instrument. Received fairly good applause and their medley of popular airs was very well done. BARNEY GILMORE. 16 minutes in (1). Most excellent act. Accorded an ovation at all performances. Audience couldn't get enough and Mr. Gilmore was generous in his encores. It can safely be said that no greater success has ever been known here. THE TROPICAL TRIO. In "Fun In The Jungle". 12 minutes, full stage special set. Three men. Fairly good act. Animal impersonations get many laughs, and they do some really good acrobatic work. This act played the opposition house here some six months ago, under the name "The Four Rianos", and this fact does not help the act any as everyone is saying they have already seen it. The performers admit having played the other house about six months ago, but claim that their present act is all new and entirely different, but in the main, it is, in my estimation, practically the same act. W. E. Parmenter Manager. BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW FEBRUARY 5-1914. RAY CONLIN. Ventriloquist. 16 minutes in (1). Good act. Ventriloquial work very good. Got plenty of laughs, and good applause. RAFAYETTE'S DOGS. 11 minutes full stage. Fairly good act. Nothing unusual. Seems weak for a feature act. Very little applause. WEST AND VAN SICLEN. Comedy sketch with music. 17 minutes full stage, special drop. Fair act. Called a comedy, but the comedy doesn't seem to be there. Got very little laughter, and only slight applause. Musical work, nothing more than fair. I had a conversation with Mr. West after the matinee performance, the result of this conversation was that he refused to continue his engagement and said he and his partner would close, which they did, leaving me an act short Thursday Evening. I informed Miss Van Slicken that I desired their act to open the show in the evening. She told me I would have to consult Mr. West. He came out in front looking for me and I told him as I had told Miss Van Slicken. This led up to the conversation above referred to with the result I have told you of. His manner was most obnoxious, and the epithet he hurled at me as he walked out was positively vile and disgusting. Telephoned to Boston for another act. W. E. Parmenter Manager.
