BOSTON SHOW REPORT Week of December 25th - 1916. R. G. Larsen. MAXINE BROTHERS and BOBBY 11 minutes f.s. Garden Set. This well known act made a good opener for the holiday show. Particularly pleasing to the children. Got a number of laughs, and went well. MURIEL WINDOW 17 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Miss Window has worked out a good novelty in the way of a single singing act, making her changes behind a high settee with only head and shoulders showing. Makes a change of costume for each number. Several are new to Boston. Full of life and ginger. Got over first-rate. CARTMELL and HARRIS 16 minutes in three. Special Set. Doing their new act, "Golfing With Cupid." singing, dancing and a little comedy in a pretty stage setting done in the modernistic manner. The best act they have given us. A hit. PISTEL and CUSHING 14 minutes in one. Wood Drop. An old-time "nigger minstrel" act that made the audience laugh very heartily. In fact, one of the comedy hits of the show. HELEN LACKAYE and CO in "Overtones." 16 minutes f.s. Special Set. A novel sketch, well played, and beautifully staged. It is a question, however, if vaudeville audiences in Boston care for this sort of thing. Monday afternoon the audience got very restless. At night it went better, but is not the kind of an act that possesses a popular appeal. It is a question if one-third of the audience wanted to exert themselves enough to understand it. WILLIE WESTON 23 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Weston played here a short time ago. He is doing about the same line of stuff, and putting over a hit. Went very big Monday night. W. H. MACART and ETHELYNNE BRADFORD in "Love, Honor and Obey." 26 minutes f.s. CDF. This is a farce comedy written along broad lines, giving Macart a good opportunity. He got the laughs at both performances Monday, and kept the audience in good humor every minutes. A good comedy turn. HARRY CARROLL and ANNA WHEATON 18 minutes in one. Plush Drop. Mr Carroll received a reception upon his entrance, and they proceeded to put over a hit. Have some new songs, and held this spot in good shape. FOUR ROLLOWAYS 13 minutes f.s. Cut Garden. There are five people in this act, although only four work. The fifth man is a "filler-in." One man makes up as a woman. Have some difficult stunts, including bicycle riding on the tight wire. CUTS Pistel & Cushing - business of thumbing nose. Willie Weston - reference to "Jewish branch of Knights of Columbus" Entire song - "You Know Me, Al." Muriel Window - word "Hell" in song. Four Holloways - business of kicking man behind.
