REPORT on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of JANUARY 1, 1917. CHARLES LOVENBERG, Manager.
We have a fairly good bill this week, probably a little better than the last two that preceded it.
Seabury & Price
Cartoon and other drawing with a little singing. Not much of an act, only suffices to open the show. 11 Minutes In Two.
Inglis & Reading
Practially the same act that was given by Hawthorn & Inglis, and as far as this house is concerned, no better - and that was pretty bad. Our audiences like "nut" work when there is a little merit behind it, but these people did not reach the audience or me. However, they might do very well in some other places, and I think should be given another chance before condemnation. 14 Minutes In One.
Mabelle Adams & Marion Murry in "Cotton Stockings"
A pretty good sketch, well played by Miss Murray and Miss Adams "gets by." Remarkable to relate, the audience seemed to like the violin and piano playing. 20 Minutes Full Stage.
Willie Weston
This is the first time Willie Weston has scored in this house and he really made quite a hit which he deserved as he has some excellent material and presented it well. 16 Minutes In One.
Jasper, Educated Dog
Very remarkable animal that seemed to please the audience greatly. 17 Minutes Opens Full Stage, can Close IN One
Ciccolini
Grand Opera singer who scored quite a hit. 15 Minutes Opens In Two and Closes In One.
Harry Cooper
I am sorry to say Mr. Cooper did not do exceedingly well. He failed very much of giving value for salary received. 17 Minutes In One.
Mrs. Gene Hughes & Company in "Gowns"
A splendid sketch, excellently played by Mrs. Hughes, and her support is fairly good. Held the audience right to the finish. Got lots of laughs, and considering the late place on the bill, all the curtain calls that could be expected. 22 Minutes Full Stage.
