BOSTON SHOW REPORT Week of JANUARY 8th - 1917. (R.G.Larsen) THE LEVOLAS 11 minutes fs. Garden Set. A clean-cut young man and an extremely pretty girl in one of the best routines on the slack wire we have played in a long time. A splendid opener. MARTIN BRENNAN and ETHEL POWELL 16 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Another good-looking couple with a good act. The man has a pleasing voice, and the girl is attractive. Their program is composed largely of ballads. Went over very well in this spot. MEEHAN'S LEAPING DOGS 18 minutes fs. Garden Set. Meehan has built up the finish with the leaping dogs until he has the whole house worked up over the high jumps. The dogs work as if they enjoyed it, and not as if they were afraid of the trainer. An ideal act for this spot. A hit. DeLEON and DAVIES 15 minutes in one and two. Olio Drop and Special Drop. Doing about the same act as on their previous visits, and going as well as usual. DOLLY CONNOLLY and PERCY WENRICH 24 minutes fs. Special Set. These people have dressed up their act with a beautiful new stage setting done in the "modernistic style," have an entirely new program of songs, and put over a decided hit. The best act they have ever given us. AVELING and LLOYD 18 minutes in one. Street. These boys received a reception upon their entrance, and proceeded to put over a solid laughing hit. THEODORE KOSLOFF and HIS RUSSIAN BALLET 32 minutes fs. Special Set. The biggest and most artistic dancing act we have played in a long time. Six soloists and an orchestra of ten pieces, in a beautiful setting. Kosloff is a manly appearing fellow, and the girls in the company make a beautiful appearance. Every number was applauded, and the finish was very, very big. JULIUS TANNEN 17 minutes in one. Rotunda Drop. Mr. Tannen has not appeared here in several years. He is doing about the same line of stuff as on his last visit, and went over very well indeed in this hard spot. PINKEY 13 minutes fs. Special Set. This was a very hard spot for this act, following thirty-two minutes of wonderful dancing by the Russian Ballet, but they got away with it. CUTS Aveling and Lloyd - All cuts made at Palace, N. Y., were taken out before opening. Julius Tannen - All cuts made at Palace, N. Y., taken out before opening, also gag about "Each flea travelled on its own dog, - next week they travelled on the Italian quartette."
