REPORT on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of FEBRUARY 5, 1917. CHARLES LOVENBERG, Manager. The bill this week is rather weak and quite disappointing after the excellent shows we have been getting of late. Dunedin Duo A little singing, bicycle riding and tight wire work. Rather commonplace other than a couple of good tricks by Mr. Dunedin on the wire. 12 Minutes, short opening In One; Closes Full Stage. McShayne & Hathaway Decidedly mediocre act that means nothing on the bill whatever. 10 Minutes In One. Will Oakland & Co. In an Irish sketch featuring Mr. Oakland's singing "Far and away", the big applause hit of the show, although I hardly think it is an act that will draw us much money, and I don't believe it is worth the salary it is getting. 20 Minutes Full Stage. Joe Towle. This fellow has a few funny mannerisms, but he plays them up so much in the same way that he grows monotonous towards the finish. 16 Minutes In One. --Went better at night. The Girlies' Gambol Quite a flash but with very little of merit or originality. Certainly, it is not worth the salary it is getting in this house. 48 Minutes Full Stage. Dunbar's Darkies Practically the same act that they gave us last season but the spot on the bill is a little too hard for them and they meet with only fair success. 16 Minutes In One. Roland Travers & Co. Illusionist. Pretty good act but not strong enough to close the show. It would be better in #2 or #3. 10 Minutes Full Stage. Motion Pictures O. K. CUTS Will Oakland Use of words "God" and "Devil". Joe Towle "Summer Complaint" and "B. V. D.'s" Girlies' Gambol "B.V.D's" and verse in Mr. Adler's song about "Hot Water Bottle".
