PHILADELPHIA KEITH'S APRIL 23, 7 PATHE 10 min. Fairly interesting lot of pictures. HOOPER & MARBURY. 11 min. A very good looking dancing act by a man and woman. Both are clever dancers and have a variety of numbers, attractively dressed and staged and made good as an opener. GUINAN & NEWELL. 11 min. "A Chinese Circus." This is a very novel horizontal bar act introduced in a new way. The two boys open with some clever eccentric dancing in evening clothes and then change to Chinese costumes and go through a routine of showy tricks. Act made a very good impression. JOHN B. HYMER & CO. "Tom Walker in Dixie." 37 min. This is an unusual playlet written by Mr. Hymer and he is supported by a company of six persons. The dialogue is a mixture of comedy and drama and it is splendidly played, holding interest from start to finish, getting plenty of laughs and finishing to a good hand. DAISY JEAN. 19 min. This Belgian woman who made her first appearance here a year ago was accorded a very warm reception on her return visit and her offering, which is remarkably versatile, appeals to the lovers of high-class music. Her act was again a big applause winner. HENRY B. TOOMER & CO. "The Headliners." 26 min. A cleverly written comedy act which starts a little bit slow but picks up and finished as a good laugh-getter. There are four principals in the act and they get their stuff over in good shape. Got plenty of laughs and finished to a big hand. SALLIE FISHER & CO. "The Choir Rehearsal." 21 min. This is one of the prettiest sketches we have every played. It is not only a beautifully written story, but it is played exceptionally well by Miss Fisher and her entire company. It scored a big hit with our audience, getting plenty of laughs and applause and finishing very strong. SAM & KITTY MORTON. 17 min. This old time team put over a good sized laughing and applause hit in the next-to-closing position of the vaudeville bill. They used the same act they did here on their last visit and for a finish introduced the two younger children, Martha and Joe. The family was given a big hand at the finish of a neat dancing number. FOUR AMARANTHS. 8 min. A quartet of girls in a series of acrobatic dance numbers. They work fast and their numbers are lively and varied and at the finish they were given a liberal hand of applause. "PATRIA." 21 min. Final episode of the Patria picture, which was a series of battle scenes, held the attention of the audience. GENERAL REMARKS. This was a wonderful show which did not show its value at the first performance owing to the numerous waits. A change is made for the night show which should improve it a lot. The new running order is as follows:- A Orchestra B Pathe C Hooper & Marbury D Guinan & Newell E "The Headliners" F Daisy Jean G Four Mortons H Sallie Fisher I John B. Hymer J Four Amaranths K "Patria" L Exit SPECIAL NOTE: John B Hymer and "The Headliners" were both booked with Mr. Gordon on his statement that they were both practically in one. Hymer does 12 minutes at least in opening in one and 8 minutes in closing. "The Headliners" is supposed to open for 5 minutes in 1 1/2, go back to Full Stage for 5 minutes and come down to 1 1/2 for 8 minutes more. While Mr. Hymer can open following a bare stage act satisfactorily, his close in one amounts to nothing if a set is heavy. "The Headliners" opens in two with a backing in 2 1/2, also making it a very unsatisfactorily act to go between two big acts. As a result of Mr. Gordon's misinformation, we had serious waits both before and after each act and while the general change in the bill should make the waits shorter, still neither one can be booked as acts in one satisfactorily.
