PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S AUG. 27, 7 PATHE. 13 min. A good average of pictures. KARL EMMY'S PETS. 15 min. The best act Karl Emmy has ever presented in vaudeville. A lot of comedy is injected into the routine of tricks by the dogs and the act gave the show a great start. EDDIE & BIRDIE CONRAD. 12 min. A medley of songs and dances by a fellow and girl. The man does a couple of character dances and both finish with an imitation of Montgomery & Stone in Chinese makeup. Did very well in this position, finishing to a good hand. DAN BURKE & CO. 20 min. A very good and classy dancing novelty, well presented and each member of the company, including Mr. Burke, is a decidedly clever dancer. A pretty little story is interwoven with a variety of dances and the act was a big applause winner. BENNIE & WOODS. 12 min. These two young fellows have a semi-nut musical act handled in a new way and registering a big hit. Both are clever musicians and inject just enough comedy with their musical numbers to liven up the offering. They were forced to respond to a well-earned encore and left the audience applauding for more. FERN & DAVIS. 20 min. "A Nightmare Revue." Here is a corking good song and comedy novelty by a man and woman. It is entirely different from anything we have seen in other team offerings with plenty of action, a lot of good laugh-producing comedy and good songs well done. The act is elaborately fitted with special stage setting and the girl wears several decidedly effective gowns. It was a big applause winner, kept the house in laughter and closed to a big hand. JOSEPH E. BERNARD & CO. "Who Is She?" 21 min. One of the best farce sketches in vaudeville and played up to the limit for laughs. Ninita Bristow is the other principal and an excellent support for Mr. Bernard. There is a laugh almost every minutes in the bright lines and situations and the act closed very strong. SWOR & AVEY. 19 min. A very good blackface comedy and talking act by two men. Their pantomime and talk got plenty of laughs and the burlesque boxing and eccentric dancing gave the act a very good finish. They went very well and finished to a good hand. JOSEPH E. HOWARD & CO. 33 min. "A MUSICAL WORLD REVUE." Howard has built up a production in four scenes around the last two-act he presented in vaudeville with Miss Clark as the principal support. The remainder of the company include a male quartet and a group of colored singers and dancers. Several of Howard's well known song compositions are featured in numbers with scenic and costume effects and the closing scene is an elaborate spectacle with a patriotic number and a rainstorm effect featured. The production was not seen at its best, numerous waits caused by the fouling of drops slowing it up and handicapping it considerably. The music is catchy, there is plenty of action and despite the poor performance, it was given a good hand. When working smoothly, it should make a satisfactory production. GENERAL REMARKS. Up to the time the Howard & Clark act appeared, this was one of the best shows we have played in a long time and with the headline feature running smoothly, it will make a corking good show. CUT EDDIE & BIRDIE CONRAD: Elimination of word "damn" in song.
