SHOW PLAYING AT KEITH'S PROVIDENCE THEATRE WEEK OF SEPT. 17, 1917. We have another quite good bill this week although not quite as well playing as that of last week. Selma Braatz It is quite complimentary to the progress of vaudeville to realize that this young woman a few years ago was a head-liner and while doing fully as good an act and probably a little better one than she did then, is now opening our show and while quite satisfactory in that position, is not a remarkably good opening act. 10 minutes full stage. Kennedy & Burt Singing and talking act presented with three special drops of a very attractive nature. They have avery good idea indeed but it has not been well developed and their presentation of it is only fair. Not better than a number two act. 14 minutes in one. Janet Adair and Miss Adelphi Miss Adair made a most pronounced hit with her song recitations. This is an act that can be depended on in any spot on the bill. Miss Adelphi renders capable assistance on the piano. 15 minutes in one. Gautier's Toy Shop This man deserves credit for being able to present a trained pony act in such a novel manner. The act almost takes on the appearance of a sketch. Most attractive for children and made good with the grown-ups as well. He ought to be a great object lesson to some of the other animal trainers who say that there is nothing new possible to be done with trained ponies. 16 minutes full stage. Britt Wood This is Mr. Wood's third appearance here and he is giving us exactly the same act in every details as to songs, music, dancing, facial grimaces, bodily actions, etc. that he did on each of his two previous visits. For this he gets an increased salary. While he received considerable applause I noticed that a very large percentage of the audience was decidedly bored by him. Unless he can make material changes in his act for another season, I would rather see him on my opposition's bill. 10 minutes in one. Diamond & Brennan These clever people have got practically a new act this year and scored their usual big hit. 15 minutes in one. Hassard Short & Co. In "The Ruby Ray". Through the clever acting of these people they make a very indifferent sketch get over. I can't say that I can particularly recommend it. 22 minutes full stage. Ed. & Lou Miller Vaudeville vocalists scoring the biggest kind of a hit. 14 minutes in one. Palfrey, Hall & Brown Through the excellent work of a comedian who also does all of the good bicycle riding the act gets over very well. The woman is a most indifferent dancer and the other man doesn't do anything at all that is worth mentioning. Act decidedly over-paid. 12 minutes full stage. Motion Pictures O.K. CUTS Kennedy & Burt "Son of a gun" Britt Wood Modify business of gyration of lower part of body in dance. Hassard Short & Co. The word "devil". Business of young lady throwing legs over man's knees.
