REPORT OF SHOW PLAYING AT KEITH'S THEATRE PROVIDENCE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 5th, 1917. We have a pretty good bill this week, but unfortunately it contains nothing of headline calibre for general box-office draft. CHARLES LOVENBERG, Manager. MANKICHI TROUPE: Japanese risely performers and top spinners. A good opening act. 11 minutes F.S. WALTER WEEMS: Blackface comedian;- has a good personality and material that secured him plenty of laughs. Finished with some solos on the baritone horn. An act that could easily go further down on the bill. 18 minutes in one. CHAS. SCHOFIELD & ISADORE MARTIN AND CO: Who offer a farce something on the type of the act acts played by Wilfred Clarke, although entirely different in character and theme. Secured lots of laughs. 20 minutes F.S. MARGUERITE FARRELL: Character songs interspersed with some motion pictures while she makes changes of costume. A very clever girl who was given plenty of applause. 18 minutes in one. MC KAY & ARDINE: They have some very fine scenery and Mc Kay is a very good dancer. A little of their comedy goes well but most of it is very sad. From a standpoint of entertainment the act would be well paid, even at present rate of prices, if they got one half of the salary that is being paid them. 18 minutes F.S. Could open and close in one. KENNY & HOLLIS: Well known comedy talking act that made the big hit of the show. 20 minutes in one. "WHEN THE BUGLE CALLS". Tommy Gray's patriotic sketch presented by Brown University Students who donate their services; the salary paid the act being used to purchase Liberty Bonds (which were secured in advance) and the Bonds donated to the Providence Journal Athletic Fund. This is a very good sketch indeed and the boys as actors did not in the least suffer by comparison with the professional actors on the bill. At the conclusion of the act the Orchestra played the Star Spangled Banner and we dropped a big flag from the flies; making it a big patriotic stunt which was unquestionably a big hit, and the act itself contains plenty of merit, making it advisable to move it from number three to this spot. 12 minutes F.S. EL BRENDEL & FLO BERT: Swede comedian and soubrette;- very good act of singing, dancing and comedy talk. 15 minutes in one. "MAKERS OF HISTORY" Living statues of famous men that were quite interesting. 12 minutes F.S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
