PHILADELPHIA B.F.KEITH'S JAN. 1, 8 PATHE. 13 min. Up to the average. THREE ESCARDOS. 6 min. A trio of men in a well-handled routine of hand-to-hand acrobatics. A trampoline board is used for several tricks Nicely dressed and a good opener. WEBER & RIDNOR. 10 min. Young couple with neat routine of songs and dances. Both are clever steppers and got results from their work, the man injecting some comedy in his dancing. They were given frequent hands and finished very well. VIOLET BESSON. 15 min. "High Cost of Living." A high-class satire on food economy, right up to date and splendidly played by three persons. Kept the audience highly amused and closed strong. DOOLEY & NELSON. 15 min. Those two boys have a medley of songs and dances that got them over to big applause. Their finishing number was a riot and they went as well as any two-man dancing team we have had here in a long time. They are versatile chaps and have a good lot of material. NONETTE. 24 min. Although this girl has been here several times, she has never presented anything quite no elaborate as her new act and she was a big applause hit. She works in a beautiful stage setting and has the assistance of Kerry Jarnagin at the piano. Her program of violin numbers included both classical and popular music and she also sings with three of her selections. She played an old time ballad as an encore and she closed to a big hand. BENSEE & BAIRD. 17 min. Although they were forced to work in street clothes, they scored just as big a hit as on their previous visits. They have some good comedy talk and songs which they made good use of and finished to a big hand. SARAH BERNHARDT. 31 min. A capacity audience gave this venerable actress a royal welcome and listened with the strictest interest to her recital of the one-act French play in which she is the central figure. At the finish the applause lasted through several curtains. HAWTHORNE & ANTHONY. 16 min. "Tony and his Legal Adviser." These boys got plenty of laughs with their character talking act. They appear as Italians and have a good line of chatter, closing with a musical bit which took them off to a good hand. McLALLEN & CARSON. 13 min. Their medley of fancy work and dancing on roller skates went over in splendid shape in the closing position. There is plenty of variety to their work and it is all handled in an attractive manner. GENERAL REMARKS. The show surrounding Mme. Bernhardt played in a thoroughly satisfactory manner despite the fact that Violent Besson sis not arrive in time to open for the Matinee. Never since the days of continuous has there been such a tremendous crush in front of this theatre as today. At 9 o'clock this morning there was at least Five Hundred people in line buying for today and the balance of the week and at 12 o'clock noon there were two lines extending over a block in length. The house this afternoon, of course, was absolute capacity and as we are able to keep our Box Office open from 9 to 5 on Tuesday, should have no difficulty in being completely sold out for every performance from Wednesday morning.
