WILMAR, Cal., Oct. 25. (UP) -- Soldier John Michael Tessar told police today that since he pays the bills in his family he thinks he has the right to beat his wife. Sheriff's deputies arrested Tessar, 43, and took his wife, Violet, to the hospital with severe bruises, a brain concussion, and two fractured vertebrae after she had called for help. "I'll do the same thing any time I please as long as I am paying the bills," police quoted him. He said his wife did not have his dinner ready when he arrived home. HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 25. (UP) -- A soldier shot and critically wounded the doorman at the Burbank burlesque theater early today when he refused to let him go backstage and see the chorus girls. "I want to see the chorus girls," police quoted the soldier as shouting. "Let me in." When the doorman refused, the soldier pulled a pistol from his boots and shot him. The doorman, Philip Plude, 37, was in critical condition at General hospital with a bullet wound in the abdomen. Police said he was not expected to live. Pvt. Curtis C. Legerton, 21, of Wilmar, Calif., medical corps veteran of the European combat who said he was expecting his discharge today, was arrested an hour after the shooting and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. When we get around to setting up our much-discussed Slan Center, we don't want to forget the opportunities that a site in the small town of Wilmar, Calif., will afford us. [Sketch of a bunny lying on its elbow with its ears up and a hut and two palm trees in the background.] I am Tondelayo. ********************************** damnrocklynnehissedkoenigdamnrocklynnehissedkoenigdamnrocklynnehis ***********************************
