-Published- FANART at 2409 Santee Ave. Columbia, South Carolina. by one Harry Jenkins, Jr. a supposedly bi-monthly pub. 10c per issue; 3 for 25c trades with other fanzines welcome.--- Affiliated with ---'DIXIE PRESS'--- -publications Financial Backer - one Hugh Wm. Robinson of Columbia Hello. Fanart is here. A year ago such a fanzine would have been impossible. The scarcity of fan artists would have made the very idea implausible. But today: Fanart is here. Many thanks go out to all contributors, especially to Tom Wright, who did the excellent job of stenciling on his, Teaball's, and Field's pics. A word to all who are receiving complimentary copies. This issue was put out without the usual ballyhoo and therefore had no subscriptions. If you think this issue is worth a dime, send it in, or send 25c for 3. And that leads us into the next issue. On hand for the next issue already are: an article by Weaver Wright; art by Mary E. Rogers (of S.F.Fan fame); Phil Bronson; West Coast artists R. Hoffman and Nealson; and Radcliffe. I have written Hunt and Finlay for material and hope to have most of the contributors for this issue back. In the second issue I will make use of Assorted Services' mimeocrayon to reproduce at least two of the drawings. A word about format -- should I continue the policy of using only one side of the page, which makes the pictures suitable for framing? Should there be articles? Send in all suggestions and comments..Please use the Warner system when rating: 1, the bottom, 10, absolute tops, the intermediate numbers serving to grade the pic from good to fair on down. The next issue will be out in time for the D E N V E N T I O N! Harry Jenkins, Jr. #**#**#**#**#**#**#**#**#**#**#**# FANZINE ART REVIEW............. by Criticque SPACEWAYS..front cover by Tom Wright well stenciled, but that is about all...back cover better than the front..Schultz shows he has artistic ability by the figure in the foreground. FANFARE....enclosed drawing by BoB Jones is quite the best thing I've seen in a long time...merited redrawing in Art Joquel's FMZ. SOUTHERN STAR...Jenkins' front cover of the Gargoyle was stenciled fairly well, but the beastie doesn't show the sign of life that it should...back cover by Jenkins is a fair cartoon...if fred pohl ever comes south! VOM.......with the new type of covers, if the artist is even fair, the pic will undeniably be good...and front artist is better than fair, tho she lacks the need of detail. FANTASIA...lou goldstone's prints are beyond the power of any adjective...Merited reprint in FMZ Digest FANTASITE..dollens is only fair..bronson amusing..jones good
