T Y M T O P I C S ALBERT TOTH: I'd like to call your attention to an item that might be of interest to stf readers and might be worth printing in Tympani. It is a letter in Saturday Review of Literature for 15 May 48, page 28, from T.G. Reaper, 1749 L St., Washington, D.C. He is secretary of the "League of Survivors", an organization concerned with the best methods of survival after an atomic war: "Can you light a fire without matches?" -- "To make a blade for a spear would you use the crankshaft from a wrecked auto or a spring leaf?" -- "Do you know the propaganda technique to establish a tabu of exogamy and minimize the birth of monstrosities?" -- "the proper use of the stockpiles of scrap will provide a breathing spell which may avert a reversion to barbarism", etc., etc. # Either the League is a good fraud or might be really important to those who want to survive Atomigeddon. ((We're inclined to suspect a hoax, after noting the letter is signed by "The Grim Reaper". Eds.)) TED HOKE: I read Tympani and found the most interesting article to be "Woman Dies in Mysterious Fire" (Tympani 21). I do not believe that the article tells completely the true facts of the case. I have heard of an explosion such as this, but under slightly different circumstances. I can't find the article now. But I have some theories on these cases. I compliment you on a swell fanzine. JEROME MENDEL: I think Tympani is practically a necessity for a fan, and I especially like your Fanzine Front column with its descriptions of fanzines. It would be nice if you could review them before they are mailed out so that your readers could get the specific issues reviewed and not have to wait for the next one. This is especially true of a fanzine containing an article of especial interest. ((If you request a specific issue, most fanzine editors can supply you -- if you write immediately. Eds.))
