Sunday 6 SCHRAMM Who [[underline]]is[[end underline]] going to do the job of interpretation and dissemination? TRAPNELL The press, the radio, the motion picture industry, the scientific and professional societies, the universities and colleges, the high schools, the magazine and book publishers, the communities themselves, and all of the organizations to which people belong-- whether it be the Girl Scouts, the women's club, the Rotary Club, the Eagles, the veterans' organizations, the Chambers of Commerce. These are the institutions which our people trust. These are the institutions over which people have direct control. To allow the federal government to do this job--- which it couldn't do nearly so well--- would be that most insidious of isms, paternalism, which makes all of the communities like Burlington just "company towns" of a colossal government. The Russian people have let themselves get into the position of complete subservience to bureaucracy and subjection to national gangsterism, because they get no information and no interpretation of facts except as their government chooses to give it to them. I'm again' it. SCHRAMM Then I'm sure you will approve our plans for Burlington Atomic Energy Week. The newspapers, the radio station, the schools, and 25 citizen organizations are sponsoring this program. The business community of Burlington is cooperating with window displays, poster and pamphlet distribution, and general promotion of the idea. And we expect the whole town to turn out for our mass meeting tomorrow night to hear Mr. Forrest
