Congratulations on your decision to continue your formal education. We welcome you as a future member of the State University of Iowa student body. This booklet will acquaint you with the steps you must follow in order to become enrolled at the University this fall. The material is divided into three sections: I. Before Orientation and Registration II. Orientation and Registration III. After Registration If you plan to enroll as a freshman directly from high school, we recommend that you study the entire contents of this booklet. We sincerely hope that it will prove a valuable aid to you and your parents in clarifying what will be expected of you from now until you are registered. Undoubtedly, parts of this information will not affects you directly if you are transferring to the University from another college. Nevertheless, we encourage you to read all of this booklet. If you will check each item as it is completed (see page 37), you will have a record of your preparations for entering the University. Please retain this {Italics} Handbook {/Italics} and bring it with you to the campus. It is essential that you have it with you during Orientation and Registration. Before Orientation and Registration In this section we shall describe and explain the admissions procedure, the University's testing program, interpretation of test results, housing, payment of fees, the orientation program planned for you when you arrive on the campus, and other information you should have before you register at the University. 3
