SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES Wednesday, September 21, 1960 (Continued) Time Activity 1:30-4:30 p.m. Activities Open House—Main Lounge, Iowa Memorial Union An introduction to varied campus organizations offering opportunities for extracurricular participation. In one location, new students may get acquainted with organization leaders and many of the activities open to new students. An informal dance will be held in the River Room during the afternoon. 1:30 p.m. Scottish Highlanders Try-Outs, North Gym, Field House 7:00-10:00 p.m. Play Night at Field House An evening of fun and relaxation for men and women students—swimming, basketball, and other games, special exhibitions by the Dolphin Swimming Club, fencing teams, and others. A "sock hop" will be held in the north gym. Bring along suitable attire for your favorite sport. A check room is provided. Thursday, September 22, 1960 7:30 a.m. Beginning of Classes 9:25 a.m. University Induction Ceremony The traditional opening of the academic year, held on the west approach of Old Capitol, is a beautiful and impressive service which students, old and new, should attend. 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Women's Physical Education Performance Tests (See Appointment Schedule) Friday, September 23, 1960 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Women's Physical Education Performance Tests (See Appointment Schedule) 8:00-12:00 midnight Union Open House An evening of dancing and tours for the new students at the Iowa Memorial Union—sponsored by the Union and the Union Board.
