PLACEMENT TESTS (American College Tests-ACT) All new undergraduate students, both freshmen and transfers, in the colleges of Liberal Arts, Engineering, Business Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dental Hygiene are required to complete to the American College Tests. There are no exceptions to this requirement,. The tests will be offered to high school seniors on November 10, 1962, February 23, 1963, April 20, 1963, and June 22, 1963, in testing center throughout the United States. Transfer students who have taken these tests when seniors in high school and did not list the State University of Iowa as one of their college choices at the time should remit $1.00 and a request that their scores be sent to the State University of Iowa to: American College Testing Program P.O. Box 168 Iowa City, Iowa In addition to the testing dates listed above, the University participates in a summer ACT residual testing program in cooperation with other colleges and universities throughout the nation.If you have not competed the American College Tests by the summer of 1963, please write to the address given above and request a list of the test centers and test dates for the summer of 1963 in your state. If you have taken the ACT tests and have had your scores forwarded to this University, it will not be necessary for you to take additional placement tests. However, if you fail to complete the tests prior to Orientation, it will be mandatory for you to report to MacBride Auditorium at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 1963. Those who have completed the tests do not need to report for Orientation until Sunday, September 15. Dormitory contracts are not valid until Saturday, September 14; therefore, those who must report for testing on Friday must secure overnight accommodations off campus or University accommodations by writing to: Director of Dormitories University Hall State University of Iowa Iowa City, Iowa Payment of $1.50 per person per night must accompany your request for the nights you desire University housing. You are strongly urged to complete the tests prior to Orientation. This will enable the Admissions Office to prepare your final Admission Statement in advance and mail it to you by September 10, 1963. It will be impossible to complete the admission process until you have completed the tests. Your Scores on the Placement Tests The scores which you achieved on the American College Tests are reported on your Admission Statement. The scores are percentile ranks. A percentile rank indicates the per cent of the reference group which had scores below yours. For example, a score of 64 would mean that 64 per cent 20
