Registration Registration is the most important activity scheduled during Orientation Week. Only after you are correctly registered are you officially a student at the University. Since registration is something entirely foreign to new students at the University, you should become very familiar with this portion of the Handbook. It outlines the basic steps you must follow to become registered. On or about September 7, you will receive admission materials from the University Admissions Office. This mailing will include your Admission Statement and University Identification Card, a Certificate of Registration, a Registration form, and a Schedule of Courses. University Identification Card Your Identification Card bears your name, university number, and college. It is essential that you retain it and bring it to campus. You must present your I.D. Card in order to register for courses at the Field House. It is a permanent card which you will use during the entire time you attend the University. SIGN IT. CARRY IT AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT LOSE IT. [Example of a University I.D. Card] STATE UNIVERSITY ---OF IOWA--- IDENTIFICATION CARD [signature line] VALID ONLY WHEN PRESENTED WITH CURRENT CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION 12 52 69 A DOE, JOHN A. 45
