SCHEDULE OF COURSES If you are a freshman, you will receive a Freshman Schedule of Courses. The schedule includes all courses offered to freshman. If you are a college transfer, you will receive a complete Schedule of Courses. Please study the schedule carefully before beginning to plan your academic course schedule. PLANNING YOUR ACADEMC SCHEDULE 1. Study Your Admission Statement. Refer to page 15 for explanation. Determine courses you will be required to satisfy. These courses should be included in your first schedule. 2. Refer to the Schedule of Courses. Study the basic and general requirements in your college section. 3. Select your choice of courses. Consult the course listings in the Schedule of Courses. Note that many courses meet at only one time (single section courses), or that there is a single lecture section. Your schedule must be built around these class meetings. Using the Trial Class Schedule which is inside the back cover of the Schedule of Courses, insert the time and days of the meetings of these courses. Keep in mind the following when completing a schedule. 1. Classes are scheduled through the lunch period. Be certain to leave either the 11:30 a.m., of the 12:30 p.m. period open. 2. Keep clear sufficient time to walk from one class to the next in the ten minutes between periods. Most areas of the campus are close enough to present no problem. (Check campus map.) If you do not have sufficient time you should leave a free period between the two scheduled periods. 3. Typically, courses offered at 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. are assigned first, Therefore, the course sections may be closed by the time you register. It is recommended that you avail yourself of 7:30 a.m. and afternoon classes whenever possible in order to avoid conflict of scheduling later. As you plan your course work, fill out the Trial Class Schedule in the Schedule of Courses. Complete your final schedule on the back page of the Schedule of Courses. When completed, this form will serve as a work sheet for completing the Registration Form. Sample schedules are on the following page. 49
