Intoxicating Beverages The possession or consumption of beer, wine, or other intoxicating beverages by any student in violation of University regulations or the laws of the state of Iowa is cause for dismissal or other penalties. Gambling Gambling by any student in violation of University regulations or the laws of the state of Iowa is cause for disciplinary action. Cheating Any student found guilty of dishonesty in academic work is subject to dismissal from the University or to other penalties. Instructors in courses and deans of colleges are primarily responsible for the enforcement of this rule. Reporting Address or Change of Address Each student is required to report his correct Iowa City or commuting address at the time of registration each semester or session. This reported address must be the student's actual place of residence, and will be the one to which all University correspondence will be sent. If any change in residence is made during the semester or session, the new residence address must be reported within three days to the Office of the Registrar. Failure to comply with the above regulations is cause for cancellation of registration. Destruction of Property and Raids Any student found guilty of inciting to action or wilfully participating in action resulting in destruction of property, or in unauthorized groups - i.e. raids on women's residences - which may or may not be destructive, will be subject to dismissal from the University. Mutilation or Theft of Library Materials Any student mutilating library materials or taking them from the library without proper authorization will be suspended or dismissed from the University. Such a misdemeanor is a violation of the laws of the state of Iowa. Indebtedness Any student who is indebted to the University or to any fraternity using the Fraternity Affairs Office and who fails to make a satisfactory settlement of said indebtedness, may be dismissed from the University. No student may register in any new semester who has a prior unsettled indebtedness to the University or to a fraternity using the Fraternity Affairs Office, nor during the period in which the indebtedness remains unsettled may any evidence of attendance or other official credentials be obtained from the University. Any student who incurs an indebtedness with anyone for room, board, or other legitimate school expense, and who has failed to make payment under the terms originally agreed to by him, may be dismissed from the University upon a showing of undue or willful neglect in such matters. Summons by Advisers and Other Officers Students are expected to answer promptly written notices or summonses of advisers, college deans, Student Health, and other University officers. 74
