Assignment of students applying for quarters operated by the University is made without regard to race, color, nationality, or religion on the basis of established assignment procedures. 1)Approval by the University of any new off campus housing facilities for single undergraduate students under age twenty-one shall be granted only if the householder agrees in writing to rent to all students on the basis of individual merit and without restrictions on the basis of race, creed, color, or national origin. Any changes in ownership or management of facilities approved shall be considered new housing. 2) It is assumed by the University that householders whose off-campus facilities have been approved for single undergraduate students prior to September 1, 1961, shall rent to all students on the basis of their individual merits as persons, without exclusion on the basis of race, creed, color, or national origin. 3) In any case of a proven violation of this standard action of an educative and remedial nature shall be initiated by the Office of Student Affairs. Should such action fail, the University may remove the facility from the housing listing and/or withdraw approval of the facility for undergraduate housing. 4) In performing its service of listing available off-campus facilities for married students (which do not require University approval), the Office of Student Affairs shall list after September `1, 1961, only those facilities in which the owner or manager agrees in writing to accept student tenants on the basis of their merits as persons and without exclusion on the basis of race, creed, color, or national origin. 5) The foregoing policy shall be interpreted and administered by the Office of Student Affairs in the spirit that no qualified person shall ever be excluded from the University because of ethnic considerations. Residences for Graduate Students, Married Students, and Students Over Age Twenty-one Off-campus housing for graduate students, married students, and students over age twenty-one is not subject to University approval procedures. To be eligible for housing not subject to University approval procedures, students must have reached the age of twenty-one prior to or at the time of registration for the session during which such housing will be occupied Special permission for undergraduate students under twenty-one years of age to occupy housing not subject to University approval procedures may be granted by the Office of Student Affairs upon application in person for: 1) Students who have completed four years of college and who have earned 126 semester hours of credit. 2) Students who have certified medical necessity.
