BETA'S WIN TITLE Kevin O'Rourke and Ward Stubbs managed to lead Beta Theta Pi to the Social Fraternity Basketball Championship and a second place in the All-University tournament. The Beta's finished second to Delta Tau Delta in their sectional play but managed to get another spot at them by whipping Phi Kappa Psi 38-36 and Segma Nu 23-22. The rematch with Delta Tau Delta was a hotly contested affair in which tempers continued to flare. The game was finally halted with less than a minute to go after five tecnicals had been called on Delta Tau Delta. Beta Theta Pi was awarded a 35-22 victory. In All-University competition, Kevin O'Rourke got red hot in the second half to pull the Beta's from behind for a victory over the Hillcrest Champ. In the championship game, the Beta's held an early 14-4 lead over the Independent champs, Melendez and Co. The Beta's lost their shooting touch and by the half, the lead had disappeared. The second half was more of a game as Melendez and Co.rolled to the All-U title. INTRAMURAL TOTALS Social fraternity point standings have been tabulated by the University Intramural Office. These are the total points for flag football, outdoor volleyball, golf, tennis, swimming, handball singles, track, wrestling, basketball, paddleball singles, handball doubles, eight ball, table tennis, badminton and archery. 1.
