PROJECTS Robert Lunning is Ugliest Man on Campus (picture) by Ron Steele Each spring on the University of Iowa, there is a contest to determine the ug-liest man on Campus. The winner is determined through a vote represent-ed by a total count of pennies. One vote is e-quel to one penny. The person receiving the most pennies is declared the "Ugliest Man On Campus." Nominations for this glo-rious honor are made through scholarship of a candidate. Usually can-didates are sponsored by the local campus frater-nitites and sororities, or other interested organi-zations. This year the contest was held through the week of April 25 to May 1. The winner was declared on SUnday, May 2 after all votes were in. This year's "Ugliest Man on Campus" is Robert Lunning. he was a candi-date sponsored by Delta Zeta sorority. Runner-up was Kelly Green, sponsor-ed by Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. The Total amount collected in this year's contest was $200. 51. This money will now be turned over to the Easter Seal Foundation for use in rehabi-litation program for crip-pled children. The Ugly-Man contest is one of many service projects sponsored each by a group of young men known on campus as Alpha Phi Omega, a National Service Fraternity. Alpha Phi Omega is what you might call an exten-sion of the Boy Scouts, since that is what the organization is based on. Each member of Alpha Phi Omega is, or at one time or another was, a member of The Boy Scouts of America, or any Scout Mov-ement recognized by the International Boy Scout.
