1.) U.S. OUT OF INDOCHINA NOW. The Nixon administration's decisions on Cambodia and coming the North indicate that this is now "NIXON'S WAR" as much as anyone else's. With 41,000 deaths, of Americans and nearly a half million Vietnamese it is clear that the only honorable peace is an immediate one. The domestic economy is collapsed due to overheating cause by the war; the nation is dividing at the seems de to polarization deliberately pursued by the administration to hide its policies in the garb of patriotism. The time of action must be now. Students have defended Johnson and can help defeat Nixon if this is the way of Peace. The people of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand are not being defended by U.S. action -- only the elites who rule these nations are the native beneficiaries. Whether you believe that this "elitist" foreign policy that ignores the people's wishes and well-being is the outgrowth of imperialism or U.S. ideology about communism or U.S. ideology about strike that signals an end to apathy and complicity. 2.) END POLITICAL REPRESSION. Justifying their actions by arguing for law and order, the local officials and national government have attempted to hide policies from criticism. The wave of violence and arrest on this campus and many other campuses was not cause by alleged "outside agitators." The real cause is the lack of responsiveness of government to legitimate petitioning and diszent. The bulk of people arrested locally were not viole not or disruptive but only concerbed and committed. To continue the policies of law and order without justice will undermine the University and the nation. Political repression must end now. Intimidation of students by lies about what is felonous and what is a "threat to human life" must stop. The university must end is complicity with these polices of suppression of dissent. Amnesty to those locally protesting must by granted if law is to include justice. 3.) END OF RACISM The chances of the black young person becoming a doctor as compared to the white young person are 8 to 1. Black workers earn $3000 less on the average. By grade 12, black students are three and a half years behind their white counterparts in white controlled, well-financed schools. An overwhelmingly large percentage of blacks and other minority groups are dying in a white man's war in Asia. The war is justifies by military personnel and others actively promoting racism by names like "gooks." No one admits to being racist on this university; yet racism continues. The shooting Thursday and the alleged charges of looting, with no signs of forced entry or any entry, underline the discriminatory treatment of blacks. The incidences at the civic center the next day, in we are charged with "resisting arrest," underline the extent to which racism permeates our structure. The end to racism demand is proposed to force this issue into the open; it involves us all. 4.) ABOLISH ROTO The issue of ROTC is complex. Many students have reservations. Despite these the facts are clear; ROTC officers are not in decision-making positions, ROTC is not part of the academic community because its classes are not open and its system is independent; Eighty percent of Army's junior officers come from ROTC. The zeal with which it is defeated by the military indicate that it is important to them. Whether you thing ROTC must be abolished for ideological, symbolic, academic, or pragmatic reasons, you must realize its importance as an ROTC-graduate. Our campus retains this link to the war; we must end it. 5.) END SEXISM Sexism is economic exploitation and discrimination under law in the job market, in moral standards, and in expected social roles. It damage all women in many ways; a woman who graduates from the university has already been conditioned into thinking she must depend on a husband for food and shelter. Her job - if she gets one at all - will approximately $3000 less than the same job filled by a man. "Women's jobs" - nursing, clerical, teaching, social work, motherhood - are the ultimate in low-wage service jobs. Women are socialized into the female stereotype: emotional, irrational, without mind, will power, non-physical self-reliance. This university perpetuates and contributes to the training of women for interior skills and aids in promoting an interior self-concept. Fifty- one percent of the population sin bondage. End discrimination based on sex.
