WOMEN'S GUILD NEWS

Mrs. E. H. Gerdom was the leader in the October meeting. She was assisted by Mrs. Leland Keller and Mrs. Al. Inghram. The Esther Circle served refreshments after the business meeting.
All the women of the church are cordially invited to attend the November meeting of the Guild on the 7th. The Thank Offering in-gathering service will be held. Mrs. Lester Wiele will lead in the meeting. Dessert will be served at 1:30 by the Lydia Circle, which will be followed by the in-gathering service. members who cannot attend the meeting are urged to send their Thank Offering to the church.
The Fall conference of the Rieger Regional was held on October 16 at St. Luke's Church. Mrs. Ralph Holland of Indianapolis, Indiana, the National Christian Citizenship Chairman, gave a most inspiring talk during the morning session. Lunch was served by the Guild of St. Luke's Church. The afternoon session was devoted to workshops of the various departments. Te spring conference will be held in Donnellson.
The Miriam and Martha Circles served a supper on the evening of October 24. A Tom Thumb wedding was held after the supper and our members enjoyed fine fellowship together. We express our thanks to Mr. and Mrs. John Taeger who donated 42 chickens for the occasion. We thank all those who through donations or work helped to make the evening a success.
We want to keep in mind that the purpose of these evening gatherings is to get our own membership together. Although there is no objection to your bringing your personal guests at your own expense, we do not encourage the solicitation of strangers and non-members. However, we do encourage that our own members be solicited. Therefore the cost of the meal is kept low to encourage all our members to attend. If half of our adult membership attended such a social it would mean the entertaining of four hundred peop0le. To sell seventy-five-cent tickets for such a meal to outsiders is no trick at all. The real challenge and the purpose of these gatherings is to get our own members out to a fine fellowship. Please remember this fundamental purpose.
