Local Self-Survey Group Starts Action With the ground work prepared and committees appointed, Burlington's Self-Survey program is under way. Several of the committees have already been active during the past few weeks and will complete their field work in a few days. Others have begun action and hope to carry out their part of the plan without much delay. The result of the study, according to the proponents of the movement, should place this community above average in its relations with minority groups. However, they believe that much valuable information will be gathered that will reflect the possibilities for improvement and promote new insights and understandings essential to enlightened community life. The fields to be covered in the survey are, employment, education, health, housing and public accommodations. Dr. Herman Long, a member of the staff of Fisk university has been consulting with the local group. Backed with personal experience in other localities, Dr. Long has brought this experience into the local movement which has served to facilitate and simplify the actual duties of the local committees. With capable people in charge of the work the result should be a distinct benefit to the community.
