April 17, 1970 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 3 GREEK WEEK - 1970 The annual week of activities and community services sponsored by Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association will be held the week of April 18-25. According to Jim Ryan, a member of IFC, the sororities and fraternities attempt to involve the total Greek system in service to the campus and community. Most of the activities will be open to the public and there will be many events to attend: Saturday, April 18 Iowa Memorial Union Leadership Training Programs will be held for pledges and new initiates. Plus a program for presidents of the houses. For further information contact Kathy Knaggs, chi Omega. Sunday, April 19 City Park Kick-off picnic - 1:00-6:00 p.m. Open to the public, bring your own picnic - FREE - Different brand every hour. You're welcome to come and groove in the park and do your own thing, and watch the crowning of the Greek Week Queen. Monday, April 20 Carousel Restaurant A leadership banquet will be held for elected representatives from each class of each fraternity and sorority on campus. A movie will be shown entitled, "Is Greek a Dead Language?" There will also be a lecturer on the subject. The Greek man and woman of the year will be announced. Tuesday, April 21 100 Phillips Hall Auditorium 7:00 p.m. Old time flick festival. No charge - open to public. Some of the old great films will be shown (W. C. Fields, Little Rascals, Rudy Vallee, and Buster Keaton). Wednesday, April 22 All houses exchanges. Members from each fraternity and sorority will attend another house for dinner and discussion on the Greek System. Thursday, April 23 100 Phillips Hall Auditorium 7:30 p.m. Open to the public. "Problems of the Greek System." A symposium on the problems with fraternities at national and local levels with special guest speakers. Friday, April 24 8:00 p.m. Greek Week Concert will feature the New Colony Six. A two hour concert open to the public. Tickets will be available at the Iowa Memorial Union Box Office for $1.50 Saturday, April 25 City Park Morning - In conjunction with the LIFE Teach-In, the Greeks will help clean-up the campus and community. Afternoon - Olympic games - There will be chariot races, Volkswagon stuffing, relay races, and tricycle races. Everyone is welcome to watch! Night - Round house parties - Five bands will be playing in various fraternities, and rotation parties will be held. For further information, contact Don Furman, president Interfraternity council. PAUL WINTER CONCERT On April 21 Paul Winter and his group will perform in the Main Lounge, Iowa Memorial Union beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the Iowa Memorial union Box Office. Student tickets are $1.50 and public tickets $2.50.
