S.F.CONVENTIONEER 9 IN TUNE WITH THE TIMES Russell A. Leadabrand JR It wasn't too long ago that most of us were moaning about the lack of new science-fiction authors. But now we can rejoice, for new authors are appearing with every issue of the science-fiction magazines, along with startling new styles, new plots and new thoughts. KENT CASEY first graced the pages of ASTOUNDING some issues back, with a powerful little short, FLAREBACK, and it was deemed [[underline]]the best in the issue![[end underline]] Two months before scarcely a fan had heard of Mr. CASEY. Then, with the appearance of only one story, he rockets to fame. We hope his current STATIC will be equally as enthusiastically met. JOHN VICTOR PETERSON, one month just a fan, the next, an author. His current RA FOR THE RAJAH is, in my opinion, one of the best ASTOUNDING has printed for ,some time. It certainly takes the cake for this issue. An author with such an original and refreshing style as his should go places! POLTON CROSS, too, a newcomer, is already going strong. He has, in a comparitively short time, crashed "all three" with equally excellent yarns. ROBERT MOORE WILLIAMS, who, though not a newcomer, has turned out some mighty fine tales lately. His more recent stories far excell his earlier works.
