This is addressed to Easterners Everybody west of Denver will attend as a matter of course. IF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN TO A REAL CONVENTION You don't need to be sold on this one. IF YOU HAVEN'T Now is the time to start planning to fill this aching void in your experience. The 4th World Science Fiction Convention will be held in Los Angeles Council 4 July or 4 September of 1946. It will probably last 3 days. But you should plan to have anuf time off for a week or more in Shangri-la plus travel time. by air it's overnight from the Mississippi River, and costs about $80 one way. Never mind about getting back; maybe you'll want to stay on the West Coast! rail takes four days from the East. Fullman costs about the same as airplane transportation. For chair cars the basic rate is 2cents a mile. Yeditor doesn't recommend buses which cost practically the same as railway day coach, and are slow and uncomfortable for long trips. If you have your own car that's the best way to make the trip, because you're free to turn aside or stop off to see some fan or other scenic attraction along the way. You can probably get passengers to pay the running expenses. Hitch-hiking is good if you have the time. You get to know the people of the regions you to thru, and from them fill in the background of the places you pass. But get there if you have to walk!
