8 has appeared before. The one by Bok for Le Zombie is outstanding. Harry Warner's article explaining fandom is adequate. 2 cartoons, 3 pieces of mediocre, non-fantasy verse, & a piece by Daugherty (meant to be humorous, I think) complete the issue. Nos. 227-9 include news of the Futurian fracas, Collector's Club meeting, LASFS news, & Ramblings by Dunk. Nos. 230-2 include a lengthy plug for the candidates Dunk favors in the NFFF elections, a letter from The Utopians blasting somebody named Gaulin, an "analysis" of World of A by Moskowitz, which criticizes said story severely (& I can't say I blame him), & more Ramblings. Nos. 234-41 (where 233 went I don't know) consist of 17pp. Most of the news is buried in Dunk's Ramblings which covers 6pp. I would like to see the news separated from book announcements, address changes, etc., & the news itself in turn sorted under headings for handy reference. Fanews is becoming more & more of a "general" fanzine and less & less of a "newsie". Its regularity & frequency have been seriously affected. Dunk should return to the postcard or weekly single sheeter & put the rest into a monthly recap 'zine. Other things in the issue are Coslet's Comments on the pros, a review of Pilgrims Thru Space & Time by Moskowitz, again disparaging his subject. LIGHT. Les Croutch, Box 121. Parry Sound, Ontario. Full size, mimeo, 12pp, free--by invitation. Nothing of particular note in this number. The usual windy editorial poem by Jenkins written several years ago--I don't think Harry would care much for it now. An amazing bit by Sjt Lamb on hospital food. Walker on Esperanto (Gad, that stuff is harder to kill than a cockroach!), short-short story by Hurter, book review by Gibson & Lamb. With this number Light gives my orderly soul vast relief by correcting its numbering to date from the time it became a real fanzine instead of including all the carboned swap lists of the dim past. Thank you, Les. PSFS NEWS. Oswald Train, 3507 N. Syndenham, Philadelphia 40 Pa. Full size, mimeo, 16pp. 10c, 6/50c. A monthly bulletin of the Philly SF Society. Mostly news of & letter from old members now in the service. However, there is enuf general material to make it worth your dime. There are several book & movie reviews. Albert Pepper's column, Ancient Beliefs, (altho sketchily put together, it maintains interest), & Moskowitz's Time Stream (consisting of reminiscences about the Time Stream). The latter dept is better than average. VOICE OF THE IMAGI-NATION. F. J. Ackerman, Box 6475 Metro Sta., Los Angeles, Calif. King size, 8-10pp, mimeo, 15c, 7/$1. I have here nos. 45, 46, & 47. Unfortunately, #44 was lost, probably in my recent transfer. #45 has letters from Speer, D. B. Thompson, Bob Gibson, Julian Parr, Dunk, Greenleaf, Willmorth, Laney & Mesle. Parr's remarks on emotions vs intellect and on altruism & duty are particularly good, and the rest of his letter is thoughtful & worth reading, altho his
