These will be added to the recipients of dues records against future dues in case this year’s dues have already been paid. The similar award from last year in lieu of the metals which have not been forthcoming has been ordered. An individual only gets out of an organization what he puts into it. Some of our members obviously joined with the erroneous idea that the NFFF was a publishing group of amateur journalists and have expressed regrets that they haven’t received bundles of fanmags periodically in their mail. To them may we say that we are sorry that they have been disappointed. The purpose of the NFFF is to further the love and appreciation of science fiction and fantasy by assisting you to enjoy it more fully. We can best serve this purpose by setting up aids for your help. We are striving to the best of our ability to do this very thing. If you can assist in setting up these aids by lending your abilities to the organization you can rest assured that fandom will appreciate your efforts. Those who don’t think they are getting there “money’s worth” please look at the projects that we expect to complete this year that would not have been available to you without NFFF. Fraternally yours Dunk {signature} Walter Dunkelberger President of NFFF ---------------------------------------------- The Philadelphia Science Fiction Society announces its intention to place a bid at the Pacificon for the honor of being the host at the 1947 convention. Since the conventions up to now have been held in New York City, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles, we consider that it is once more time to hold a convention on the East Coast. The Philadelphia Science Fiction Society is one of the oldest science fiction clubs in existence, and is now the largest science fiction club outside of Los Angeles, drawing twenty members to its regular meetings. Names such as Oswald Train, John V. Baltadonis, Robert A. Madle, Alexander M. Phillips and Milton A. Rothman were well known in pre-war days as being experienced host to fan gatherings, and they are anxious to show fandom what a real convention is like. Keep the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society in mind.
