page 4 Reviews from here & there CONSISTING OF COMMENTS MENTIONS & SUCH England: Several weeks ago, I received a copy of a fanzine from an English group of fans, who are not widely known about. This is the POINT RESEARCH STATION SCIENCE FICTION LEAGUE. Made up of a most energetic and lively group of fans, it has steadily grown to a large group. It has been my pleasure to supply them with various US Pro-S-F mags-which has helped much to strengthen their interest in stfandom & stfiction. The title of the fanzine issued by this group of fans is: BEYOND. Made up of members talent, it is rather well formed, and has excellent reading material. This group only made up 3 copies of the first issue, but a much larger number are anticipated for the forthcoming issue, alrger portion of which are slated for USA distribution. I recently became interested in the LIBRARY OF THE BRITISH FANTASY SOCIETY. This is a most worth-while project, devoted to lending our Science Fiction magazines, to those fans who desire particular copies of particular dates, or certain named copies. Librarian Jack Gibson, 7 Belmont Road, Parkstone, Dorset, England is doing a most wonderful thing in carrying through this project. I have made an agreement with him to supply all the magazines I can possibly mail (within mailing weight restrictions) every month. New Postal regulations limit 1 parcel per month outside USA. I suggest that all USA fans who have no further use for those S-F mags lying around, and they would like to be rid of them, to mail them to Jack Gibson. I am sure that they will be more than welcome, and will help to further the cause of British fandom, which has become more closely united with our own USA stfandom. From Australia: come this news: The FUTURIAN SOCIETY OF SYDNEY has worked out a plan wherby they will supply magazines to wounded soldiers, the farther distant by mail, the local by visiting the hospitals and spending an afternoon among the men. Indeed a most worthwhile and considerate thing. It shows that in Australia Fandom is made of finer things than just S-F reading and interest. I now have made arrangements to supply all Australian fans with equal amount of USA S-F mags. Thanks for all this goes to the AMERICAN NEWS COMPANY, with the full cooperation of the local Beaumont branch. They certainly are nice people. USA comments: I read with interest the open & shut letter put out by Forrey Ackerman, concerning Forreys answer to Pogo's challenge. Previously, not having read Pogo's "piece of petulacy" (as 4E called it, resulting from VOM's routine rejection of Pogo's submission) I do not know just what she had to say. However, I gather more than an Inkling of her opinions about 4E from 4E's open letter to persons like POGORUS(Pogo). I for one, am not the type of person to seriously & willingly falsely accuse another of lack of intelligence and other bad things that would seem to deter their good character, much less doing so in a fit of anger and jealousy to "get back" what might have been considered being "wronged". In a joking manner, with facts leading to be assumed as given as such, yes - otherwise no. The high regard that has been Pogo's in the past, was fine with me, cause I with other fans thought her the best fan ever, a true sport. However that is past. Once I woulda said: Pogo is a lady(fan) now its, Pogo is not a lady(fan). She has near lost her title to such a honorary calling. Apologies are certainly due from Pogo, else is their honor left in her makeup? I was rather glad to receive a communique
