page 5 from Joseph Gilbert recently. That fan is now in the Merchant Marine, and since having gone in training there, has made quite a reputation of himself as an good S-F professional writer. Author of: "The Man Who Knew Roger Stanley," his first published tale, appeared in March Astonishing. "The Eternal Quest" appeared in the late copy of ASTONISHING. "Twilight of Tomorrow" in the previous FUTURE & CONQUEST in the last Thrilling Wonder Stories. Now he states the coming up novel length story (20,000 words) is Astounding titled: "AN ADVENTURE FOR ADAM." Eberhart Enrapt, I gaze, where space lies heaped in space / Into the ice-hung silence of the Void. / Where myriad stars and worlds glow brilliantly / Against the deep, black velvet of the heavens. / All thought lies hushed, before that rich display / Still sparkling with the lustre first approved / By the great Lapidary. And how He flung them out, in ages past! / With careless, generous hand, he scattered them. / Till all of space will filled with shinning worlds. / Their dazzling decorations gleamed and glittered / And flashed a brightness 'tween the walls of night / And to His beauty-loving eyes, through aeons since / Have given delight. Then sudden brief more swift that thought / A flash across the dark - a world has gone! / Dropping softly from its place with silent speed / Vanishing all-deep-swallowed is the maw / Of relms illuminated. And, I stand / FINITE before the INFINITE, and in that flash / Of little time, I READ ETERNITY. This concludes: Volume 1, Number 1 of Salute.
