[[underline]]JOB DESCRIPTION[[end underline]] MANAGER OF THE CHICANO/INDIAN AMERICAN CULTURAL CENTER (PZ0298) (half-time appointment, fiscal year) The Manager of the Chicano/Indian American Cultural Center (hereafter called the CIACC) is responsible for the management and coordination of all activities, the position of manager is an extremely important one. The manager should be a person with a sense of dedication to the CIACC and its founding concepts and should be willing to spend considerable time, creativity, leadership, and energy in the overall management of the CIACC. REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT: The character of the CIACC will generally assume the attitude of the manager and the CIACC staff. However, there are some tasks for which the manager is directly responsible and will be accountable. Those duties generally include: (a) The screening of applicants and the selection, supervision, evaluation, dismissal, and promotion of persons to serve on the CIACC work-study staff. Those staff positions may be added, changed, or deleted as the functions of the CIACC change upon the approval of the Assistant Director for Administration and the Director of Special Support Services. (b) Providing for the physical security of the CIACC, its furniture, fixtures, files, and resources. (c) The specification and coordination of space utilization, hours, etc., for the CIACC. (d) The official representation of the CIACC at meetings and University functions. (e) The planning and submitting of the CIACC's budget and the subsequent approval and monitoring of the CIACC's financial expenditures (including monitoring the financial eligibility of work-study staff). (f) The preparation and presentation of periodic reports and proposals. (g) Preparation of reports to Special Support Services. (h) The support and/or advocacy (through the use of the CIACC and its resources) of those programs and activities which will enhance the environment for the members of the Chicano and Indian American students at The University of Iowa. (i) General supervision of maintenance and upkeep of the CIACC. (j) Reporting to Campus Security and Mail Service hours of CIACC during vacation periods.
