AACC. For this is where I believe the next level of our work to be, that through the process of making connections we will create a network that willl truly institutionalize all that we have worked for and this is how we create community. The photos I have, spoke to yesterday by capturing historical moments of the center. Today's and tomorrow's photos, your photos, must continue to capture the spirit and essence of why the center is so important. It is my hope that you will continue to seize the opportunities present during this time of great change. I know you can make a difference. As I close I would like to share with you some comments prepared by Tony for the tenth anniversary" The Center has been a sort of cultural first-aid station where Chicano and Native American students can cure themselves of accumulative hang-ups. I found many students changed from Joe to Jose and went from being embarrassed of being mexicano to being very proud of it. So I know what I'm talking about. Experiencing our culture can be as necessary as food for survival. The center provided shelter, friends, music theater, dance, art, poetry, books and many many discussions which were helpful in balancing the one-sided education most of us were receiving. (soul food for weary hearts) I hope all of you who pass through here and those who will arrive continue to do a good job. We also can never forget about or people.
