Chicano Indian American Center presents alternate Colombus Day By VALERIE SULLIVAN Staff Writer The Chicano Indian American Cultural Center (CIACC) will hold a public "Dia De La Raza" (Day of the People) Rally from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today on Pentacrest. Presented as an "alternate Columbus Day celebration," the rally, according to CIACC chairperson Steve Rocha, L3, will include addresses by members of the campus Wounded Knee Committee, the CIACC student union and the Iowa United Farm Workers (UFW) Support Committee of Iowa. A West Liberty Junior High School dance group will perform Mexican folk dances at the rally and "Teatro Zapatista," a CIACC street theater group, will present one or two "actos" or skits. The rally will culminate in a public request to march to Maxwell's, 121 E. College St., to protest the bar's continued usage of non-union wine. Rocha explained Dia De La Raza's significance, an annual event in some Latin American counties, to the Chicano-Indian organization on campus.
