CHICANO 73 CONFERENCE AFTERMATH AFTERMATH Aft... About 900 Chicanos from the Midwest and from Aztlan came to meet in Iowa City in April 13 and 14 of this year. The impact and the feeling of what went on was so beautiful that the vibrations of consciousness are still being felt in the state. The Chicano Indian Student Union however is planning more of the same so that those that did not attend can share in the spirit of renaissance that is shaping people,chicanos, and third world,everywhere. Aside from the many workshops and their emphasis on liberation of the chicano in the fields, education,mass media, and the legal process the political speech of the chairman of LA Raza Unida Party Jose Angel Gutierrez was taped along with the super-chicano-cultural-awareness performance of Daniel Valdez,un vato alivianao y director of El Teatro Campesino Cultural. This tapes will be made available to the public in the future as soon as the legal matters ate taken care of first. A full lenght movie was taken of the conference made also. This too will be made available to our brothers and sisters in the Midwest as soon as the film is edited and copies made. A possible published handbook about the conference is also being planned at the moment. All this is being done so that people in the Midwest can share, mobilize and get together in the spirit of La Raza and the renovacion de nuestra cultura and form solidarity with all struggles (Farah,Farmworkers, Artesia,Students at all levels, and the RAZA UNIDA party). We believe that if we take one step all La Raza must take one too. We don,t believe we can help alone or individually but juntos con nuestro pasado recobrado y nuestra fe en la victoria.
