8 BIBLIOTECA... LIBRARY We are sure everyone has been interested in the progress of the Library. Our first goal was to try to increase the size of our library through donations and contributions and second to set up some kind of a check-out system. Our third goal is to increase or rather to expand our content of Chicano and Indian literature. We are glad in receiving all these contributions. We have received literature from: The Dept. Of Health, Education and Welfare, The Shoe String Press Inc., Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. Oceana Publications, Inc., The Muscatine Migrant Committee, Houghton Mifflin Co., Educational Testing Service, Harcour Brace Fovanovich, Inc., Pathfinder Press inc., Dell Distributions Inc., Freedomways, Arno Press, Inc., International Publishers Co., Inc., Dept. of Education University of Iowa, Chicano Studies Center Aztlan Publications., Cambridge University Press, and from many students totaling about 400 new books and pamphlets. But don't hesitate to send us and bring us a few more. As for a check-out system, we've come up with a system of our own. it works. We want everyone to start to check the books they need to read or wish as of April 9; whatever the circumstances, check it out. When checking out books do (1) write name and address on blue and white card, and (2) you're allowed two weeks to check out a book before it is due. However, let us know and you can check the book out as many times as you want. THERE ARE A LOT OF MISSING BOOKS. Especially Chicano Literature. if you now have any literature from the library please return it after April 16 but before the 14th during the check-out hours. The hours will be posted. We are now in the process of buying more literature. We have a very large list of Chicano Literature to order, but if there is any certain book(s) that you want in particular, let us know. We have a smaller list of Indian Lit. if anyone has any more names of books, send it to us. Also, any Black or general literature that we could benefit by, please let us know or send it to us. If you have any questions, complaints suggestions, see us or get in touch with us at 353-0601 Benita and Juanita H. On March 3, Chicano and Indian Students from six surrounding cities in the state of Iowa attended a Visitation at the University of Iowa sponsored by the Keyhole Committee. The prime purpose of their visiting was to familiarize the students with the administration and facilities available at the University of Iowa to them. During the visitation the students were also presented with information dealing with admission tot he University and Cultural reinforcement.
