2 [emblem] BIENVENIDOS A LA CONFERENCIA. El objective de la Conferencia. We hope that all the people that come or attend this year's Chicano Conference can obtain an idea as to what are the aims that the Chicano Movment has been striving for in the last 9 years. It would be hard for any one in particular to outline what would be the goals if we talk in a regional sense but yet it would be harder if we talk in a national level. yet, we all agree that the goals of the Chicano Movement have been and still are to create a atmosphere that would allow the Chicano Raza to live and grow and throw off the yoke of oppression that its is so ever present here in this country. The Chicano Movement has come to the front in raising issues that were hidden or were not 'nice' to talk about: Education, Civilrights and the fascist pigs. Today more Chicanos attend universities that were closed to La Raza a few years ago. But let me emphasize that it's far from being ideal for Chicanos still today. Many Raza still dies in the hands of the pigs that do not consider Raza human enough for respect. Also, Chicano civil rights (?) are violated constantly without regard as to sex or age. The Chicano Movement has created new styles of expression that before would not be considered as a good standard for legitimacy. The Chicano Movement has created a new individual that in return has created a more human world. That is, the Chicano has faced [photo] all the forces of opression that the Third World faces daily and that the Third World people in this country know so well. This conference will try and the effort will be made to focus attention at where we happen to be today. CUAL ES NUESTRA REALIDAD. A DONDE VAMOS Y CUANTO HEMOS REALISADO. This is the theme of the conference and these will be facts that will be raised during the workshops. This facts required that the people take a stronger and more assertive role and that the efforts of all conscious Raza bear the fruits of their labors as to the efforts and blood that has been shed in this NUESTRO MOVIMIENTO MOVIMIENTO CHICANO. The questions that the Gente should be asking in the workshops should be of a pragmatic and forward looking nature. We must push for the real solution when we are no longer dehumanized by this system. We must pushed for a final solution of our problems and that we will not tolerate unjust laws that do not allows us to be ourselves as human beings and Chicanos. Also, we must build a bridge of solidarity with all the Third World y en especial con los HERMANOS DE LATINOAMERICA. HASTA LA VICTORIA SIEMPRE. CHICANO POWER!
