LA LIBRARY REPORT If you've been upstairs in the Center lately (1) you may have noticed a sign enticing you to enter the room known to certain circles as La Library. This is not only an informative sign, but also has three "Texan Gold Stamps" pasted on it. (2) Should you be in the right condition to stand and stare at these three babies you will notice that a chubby Texan fag is gayly jumping up and down next to a pile of gold. However you know that a large cow must have recently passed by and pooh-poohed only a few minutes before (after eating 5-for-a-dollartoacos at Taco Grande). Once inside the library you will notice the casual atmosphere which is maintained throughout the year. Vestiges from Rompo's and/or Solchil's visits are quite often seen scattered about the floor beside forsaken textbooks.(3) Magazines which la library already receives or soon will be receiving include La Raza Journal, El Gallo, Aztlan, Newsweek, Ramparts, Akwesasne Notes and a million others. A list has been posted on a roll of toilet paper for those of you who don't believe that there are a million others. If you find that your favorite magazine hasn't been subscribed to, drop us a line (and ab ribe!) and we'll see what we can do. A collection of approximately 200 paperbacks has been donated to the House. Such biggies From Here to Eternity, Future Shock, Born Female, (and for those of you who weren't, the sequel) What Every Homosexual Knows. -------------------------- 1 Other than go to the excusado, or to Jose's room, which may be one and the same. 2 This is not a type of grass, but actual tradings tamps probably received from an H.E. Butts store with the purchase of $3 worth of "El Popo" tortillas. 3 It is a well-known fact that these are disguises of Mundo's and Nicks. [emblem] Along with the paperbacks we have a large assortment of textbooks. We now have in stock Exploration of the Universe, Conversational French I, College Algebra as well as textbooks in other fields. in other words, check out our booklist before you buy your books for your classes -- we might have what you're looking for. These books maybe checked out for the semester depending on the demand for them. Then there is the Chicano and Native American literature collection -- ta-dah! These books may be checked out for two weeks. If they are lost or damaged, a fine will be levied. This depends on how sever the damage is: penalties may be $500 and 10 years or more and we turn your name over to the Atalaya members, or, we fine you the price of book. This is done to discourage vanalism, mutilation or any such travesuras on the small collection which we presently have. Next semester will bring the appearance of even more books pertaining to the Native American and Chicano experience. This will be brought to you through the courtesy of the Main University Library. A connection has been set up with the library personnel in which we need only request books and then keep them here at the House. They will take care of the processing, cataloging and even better, the bill! 5
