El Teatro Zapatista-Bailadores The El Teatro Zapatista players and the Bailadores dancers have again been active this past semester. In October both groups performed in Fort Madison. They gave a performance at the Iowa State Penitentiary in the afternoon and at the Fort Madison Lulac Club for the community in the evening. On December 3, Iowa State University received a unique treat when both groups performed in the Maple, Willow, Larch dorm complex. The Iowa State audience, which last year started a Latin American Student Union, proved to be a very enthusiastic audience. The following day the two groups performed at Burlington. The audience at Burlington was small but hospitable. El Teatro performed the actos Los Vendidos, Jive Guajalotes, and Militants. Los Bailadores Zapatista performed dances such as Revolcada, Jarabe Tapatio, and La Cumbia. Complimenting the groups were an ensemble of musicians and singers who combined talents with the Teatro and Bailadores performers to sing Yo So Chicano, De Colores, Brown Eyed Children of the Sun and others. Bailadores is seeking more dancer, especially male dancers. For those interested contact the Director of Bailadores Teresa Garcia, 353-1917. It coul be an educational and fun experience. Two performances are in the future for Teatro and Bailadores- April 9th in Kansas City, Mo. and April 30th in Iowa City. More information will appear in the el Laberinto. Elections Elections for new officers for the Chicano Native American Student Union were held on March 13. The new officers are Sylvia Ramirez- Chairperson, Sue Moreno and Elsworth Youngbear- Vice Chairpersons, Mary Solis- Secretary, and Ed Moreno- Treasurer.
