-5- The community, nevertheless, in order to fulfill its functions, requires the efforts and cooperation of all its members. It must be spontaneous and fraternal and should be guided from within itself. This is a concept that made the Anahuacatl nation an eminently progressive and creative one. THE EDUCATION The paramount preoccupation of the Anahuacatl State was the education and instruction of children and youth; no nation before or since, neither Western nor American, has placed such effort and emphasis in this area. If these excerpts seem somewhat dislocated and irrelevant to our present predicament, it is because, for many generations now, we have not been ourselves. In fact, many of us are two cultures removed from our true nature. But it is within our power of self determination to recreate, resurrect and resume our natural development towards our destiny, thereby building a healthy and vital nation of la raza in order to coexist through mutual respect with other nations (peoples) in a harmonious society. To be confused in our response to the questions: Who are we? Where are we? What is our purpose? can only assure our continued humiliation, imprisonment and total defeat in a state of pseudo-inferiority. Indeed our rich heritage does not condone such negative attitudes.
