4 In reference to the future, one should never neglect their HERITAGE, individuality, and should exercise their culture, whatever it may be. In essence, personally, the dignified government of our country has vainly tried to exterminate the NATIVE AMERICAN, for over five centuries, and has yet never accomplished such a task. It has tried to assimilate, terminate, and ultimately exterminate, yet, it has never achieved such an accomplishment. Granted, it has achieved partial assimilation although not completely. For the original inhabitants, must possess perserverance, psychological knowledge, and more humanity to remain in existence. In all, people should try to become more aware of their concepts of life, the world around their immediate are, the environment, and foremost, their immediate associations. Hopefully, this"article" will provoke more self-analysis, awareness, and promote better relationships. Let alone their personal identity. UNBELIEVABLE The following was taken from the Undergraduate Social Work Student Association newsletter published on April 15, 1978. The University of Iowa"School of Social Work is presently in the process of hiring a new director to begin this July. The decision on who the new director will be is being made in the next few weeks. Four persons have applied for this position. They are James Billups from Ohio, James Weibler from Wyoming, John Redhorse from Minnesota and Ruth Brandewein from Boston. Each is well qualified and comes with a very impressive resume. On April 17th the Director Search Committee with the School will meet to decide who they plan to recommend to the University Search Committee who make the final decision. The undergraduate representative on the Director Search Committee is Cindy Ivie. Several undergraduate students have had contact with the prospective directors at a series of luncheons and discussions held the last couple of weeks when theses candidates visited our campus." The newsletter goes on to evaluate each candidate and the various groups of students in the School of Social Work voicing their opinions. " John Redhorse was also
