We are optimistic that our numbers will increase as high school students are encouraged to remain in high school and are exposed to his value of higher education. The Cultural Center is looking forward to the 1980-81 academic year. A new Center director has been named - Hector Perez, former chair of the CIASU, graduate student in English, and Acting Program Associate in Special Support Services. David Merchan, former Center director resigned to pursue law studies at The University of Iowa. Victor Ramirez, new to the campus, was elected Chair of the CIASU. Leadership during the last four years departed through graduation, work, etc. New leadership has emerged and we are eager to implement the goals of the Center/CIASU. TRANSITION LEONARD ALDAZ completed his MSW and is attending law school at Drake University. MIKE & CELINA ESPINOSA returned to Colorado. Mike plans to practice dentistry and Celina will seek employment in education. CONSUELO GARCIA [?] to Ft. Madison and is actively involved with LULAC. EDDIE ILDEFONSON resigned as Spanish speaking coordinator to pursue graduate studies at The University of Iowa in Student development. ARTURY & IXTA MENCHACA returned to Chicao to practice medicine and raise their new daughter - Ixtai [?] CHACHA MUNOZ are now deep in the heart of Raza Unida, Crystal City, Texas, where Jon is helping provide such needed dental services at the health center. ChaCha is teaching in an elementary school. MIGUEL OJEDA is teaching at a university in Guatemala City, Guatemala. ARTURO RAMIREZ joined the law firm of David Lopez & Associates in Houston, Texas. PEDRO "PETE" RAMIREZ is practicing law in new Mexico and learned how to fly. RANDY TERRONEZ returned to Davenport to work with Scott county government. JEFF VALADEZ is teaching English in Cali, Colombia.
